ARTISTS AGAINST THE
GLOBAL ARMS TRADE
On the 18th January 2025, groups in France gathered to call an end to the global arms trade.
Joining the call we shared a statement from Wallmapu, as well as different types of action you can take and resources for further learning.
Organisers of the event included Les amis du Théâtre de La Liberté de Jénine, Palestine Committee of Montreuil, CGT du spectacle, Sud Culture, Stop Arming Israel .

We write this message from Wallmapu, Mapuche lands. Here, we are exchanging experiences of cultural resistance and deepening our understanding of colonialism, land theft, and oppression that mirrors the situation in Palestine. Meeting community leaders, we are learning about Mapuche ways to honour the land, collective systems of organising and the diverse tactics—both historical and current—used in their struggle for liberation.
As this exchange takes place, Israeli violence continues to escalate against Palestinians, first and foremost in Gaza, and also in the West Bank and 48. This week saw yet another Israeli missile strike on Jenin Refugee Camp, killing six Palestinians. As we write this message, drones fly overhead, threatening more bombing, while five D9 bulldozers linger on the camp's outskirts, waiting to enter and cause further destruction.
Engaging with others on the frontlines of colonial and imperial violence has reinforced the undeniable interconnection of struggles worldwide. It has also underscored the importance of dismantling the tools used to stop liberation and self-determination, highlighting the urgent need to end profiting from selling weapons used to steal land, extract resources, repress protest, ethnically cleanse, and commit genocide.
So we join the call to demand an end to the global arms trade, and encourage others to participate in collective action and dismantle the machinery of oppression, violence, and killing that harm us all.
